The Night Bloomer - Jasmine Sambac

I bought a pot of Jasmine Sambac last week and I must say.. I've very impressed with this plant so far. The fragrance of the flowers has a very light scent... and the flower buds and flowers look so... feminine!

The only thing is.. my plant seems to like blooming at night. So far, I've not been able to get a picture of a flower in bloom in the day during the weekends... So, here's a picture of the flower at night.

Duh? Aren't they supposed to bloom at night? That's why they're called 夜来香!

Hm.. now I'm confused.. but whatever! Maybe I'm just not at home enough to catch it bloom in the day... :)

But I did search the internet.. and yeh lai xiang, is actually cestrum nocturnum.. a type of Jasmine but not Jasmine Sambac.. so Petunia is probably right.. :)

I have one like this. When I bought it, it was full of fragrant flowers. Now it is just full of leaves. I love the smell of the flowers.

From my understanding this is not 夜来香 but 茉莉. I pick the flowers at night when the frangrance is most intense to put it on my burner for the nice smell :)
