Fruit Scoop Cake @ Tampopo Deli

Liang Court is one of my favourite haunt for Japanese food and Japanese groceries. It is also home to one of the best (according to me) fresh cream chiffon cake in town.

This fruit scoop cake is simply delicious - the cream is milky yet light, with a hint of vanilla. I felt it was a little like eating milk. The cake is light and spongy without being too airy. I can't quite make out if it is a sponge cake or a chiffon cake.

The fruits are a perfect accompaniment to the light cream - peach slices in the centre with orange and strawberries on top.

Worth every bit of its SGD 6 price tag.

Try it out if you ever happen to go by Liang Court.

  1. Love the look of this cake! If I am there next time, I will remember this deli. Btw is Daimaru still there? Also I remember there is a Italian outlet that serves really nice food at Liang Court... that was 10 years ago haha...

  2. Hi Steph! Daimaru has closed down now but the Japanese supermarket (now Meidiya) is still there. I don't think that Italian outlet you've mentioned is there anymore.. :(

  3. Hi the-one-with-3-balconies,

We had wanted to email you but could not find one. You need not post this comment but do bear with us for a moment.

Foremost, we can't be thankful enough when we are wondering where to partake and indulge in the next gastronomical delights. Why? Because there is always a dedicated community like you who goes the extra mile to inform than just eat. Your food blog definitely bring to us more than just filling our stomach, but also a visual feast for the windows to our soul.

The team behind letstakeabreak.sg is also answering to their higher calling to inform and spread the love for food, or bites in our case - an online niche portal and the first to dedicate to showcase and review ONLY Singapore's most celebrated best bites targetting to launch 15 July 2011. In a bite size digest, unlike all the review portals online, we're not all things to all people. We're niche in our showcase and we only bring forth and celebrate only the most famed best bites for members to celebrate and review - think Da Pau from Tanjong Rhu Pau, Chwee Kuey from Jian Bo Chwee Kuey, Galicier Confectionery's Oneh Oneh, Pave's For Alice, Flor Patisserie's Waguri etc..

It is a very humble beginning but it cannot even begin without you lending a hand.

    1. Whilst we are fervently recruiting a photographer to join us in our calling, previous feeble attempts with our photography skills to say the least have proven injustice to the bites. As such, we would humbly like to ask for your permission to reproduce some of your images on our site. Rest assure that efforts would definitely be in place to credit your works and that we will work as fast as possible to replace the pictures with our own. With your blessing to use, we will keep you abreast on which photos are being reproduced on our site.

    2. Also, for your information too, your web link would appear on letstakeabreak.sg should your blog entries features any of the famous bites featured on letstakeabreak.sg.

We're young but here for good. We really hope to have your kind permission for the above use.
Meanwhile, should you require any clarifications or any contribution for us in any ways, feel free to contact us. The honour is definitely ours hearing from you seniors.

We sincerely hope to hear from you soon.

    Thank you & regards,
    Fabian Poon
