And sometimes, I fly to where they are to visit them.
Very often, I try to buy them a nice souvenir from Singapore..
But it is very hard to think of something special to get.
Well, I decided I'd compile a list here on my blog so that others like me can have more ideas about what to get from Singapore for their friends.
Do you have any ideas you'd like to share?
Sometimes, I feel like buying Singapore food over for my friends

food is always always the best + safest bet. my ex ex ex-boss asked us to tahbao a whole chicken from her fave s'pore chicken rice stall when we are to visit her. i didn't check if anyone really did it though. lol
I always get prima paste laska and chicken paste for my frds :)
And if i can also bring over a nice yakun kaya hahaha
Used to smuggle bak kwa into australia...don't dare to do it now. The dogs are everywhere in the airport!
Bak kwa is a good gift but Aussie and USA airports don't allow.I have bought pandan cake from Bengawan Solo.I have heard of friends carrying Lana Chocolate Cake back. I heard students overseas crave kaya!
oh I look forward to this as I will be flying through Singapore in December to visit my daughter who is working in Indonesia.
Hmmm, would surely like to have a bite on that one...
I think pandan cake is an excellent choice if you're flying over to Hong Kong. Maxims (one of our popular cake shops in HK) tried to sell it but I guess it's a bit artificial from its colour...
I read your post on the otah making and do you suppose your friend A would be willing to share with us more of her Peranakan food recipes? I am so desperate to learn to cook nonya food (like laksa, or even ayam buah keluak) before I have to fly home in December 2011.
Hi Jeff, thanks for dropping by.. Oh.. I've stopped going to A for cooking classes.. It used to be a group of us who asked her to have these lessons whenever we can make it.. but I've not been going because work just got too busy over the last 6 months. I'd post again if there is any upcoming classes..
